Will net marketing mean that ITV has to rethink its strategy

The rumour is that, apart from the banks, car manufacturers and restaurants ITV is now having problems trying to maintain its profitability registering an overall loss for the first time in recent years. Some of this is because of|owing to|as a result of|caused by|due to[/spin] loss making acquisitions but a large part has been attributed to the fall in advertising from big businesses.

What, if anything, are these businesses doing instead, and is it as effective or will ITV basically have to ride out this low? Well the word is that the are doing something, they are changing their advertising resources to the internet and so whether ITV will have it’s advertising day again really does rely on how clever those marketing people are.

If they have studies the internet option fully they will not only appreciate that they will have topay serious attention to Improving Search Engine Ranking for their goods but that they really should have Guaranteed Top 10 Search Engine Ranking if they are going to see any benefit from their spend at all. The best way to achieve this is via one of the Search Engine Placement Service providers who will aim to place the website on the first page of the top search engine results pages for the relevant keywords.

However there is a danger, if the company has not done it’s research, that they could end up forking out a large amount of money and only Improving Search Engine Ranking from say page 50 to page twenty four, initially this looks like a vast improvement but the buying public nearly always find what they want on page 1 so there really is no benefit at all in what seems initially to be a reasonably impressive jump. Enquiries may rise from 1 hit per year to 2, fantastic!

Up until now a large number of Search Engine Placement Service providers have made a decent living from this level of package but the secret seems to be out – only page one will do, and of course there are only ten places available on page one. So ITV must be hoping at this point that the secret is still under wraps so that the bulk of the organisations who have drifted away soon appreciate their mistake and come back to the traditional 30 to 50 second advert on on television.

For certain it’s far better to be seen on television by everyone than unseen on page 6 of an internet search site but better still is having a Guaranteed Top 10 Search Engine Ranking for relevant key words, after all, those people are searching for you!
